Triton Capsule
The Inspiration and materials for the Triton Capsule work is the Triton restaurant in Cardiff, CA built in 1977 by local San Diego artist and architect James Hubbell. The latest rendition of the restaurant closed in 2014 and is currently being dismantled and rebuilt by the new owners. The materials used for this new work are taken from the restaurant, 50 year old Douglas Fir and Redwood beams and copper pieces, are all being upcycled into new art forms. The pieces reference Hubbells' interest in the ocean and nature.
